Ven Wu Shin's visit - Revised Update 4 July 2006

1. Dinner with Ven Wu Shin (Bhikkhu)

Upasika Margaret suggested that we should move the dinner to Saturday evening, 8 July 2006, which would suit most people.

Action:  Can you please reply to indicate if you are coming to the dinner?  Suggested venue: Mr Kong, Chinatown.  Suggested time: 6.00pm.


2. Dharma Talk

We haven’t got a suitable public place so Upasaka Jian Tu and Upasika Yiren offered their living room and garden (weather permitted) for the gathering and talk this Sunday 9 July 2006.  Their home is very close to Orpington train station which is a quick train journey from London Bridge.

Action:  Please reply to indicate if you are coming and if you are bringing any guests?  Upasaka Jian can you please confirm the time?  We suggested everyone brings some foods to share.  Please suggest a topic for the talk too.  The talk will be delivered by Ven Wu Shin in Mandarin but interpretation into English will be provided.

 
3. Others arrangement for Ven Wu Shin

We do not know what the other arrangements for Ven Wu Shin are.  Does anyone of you like to see him?


4. Other Business

There are other development in Logan Hall and funding etc which I will address separately in the next email.

Ven Wu Shin's talk on Sunday 9th July will start from 2 pm at our home:

Orpington
Kent BR6 0AE

We are only 7 min walk from Orpington BR station which is in zone 6. You can get on a train at Charing Cross, Waterloo East or London Bridge BR station . A fast train will get you here in 17 min from London Bridge station. There are two exits from Orpington station and you can exit from either of them. If you need any help then just phone us on 01689 607475 or 07940 890350, we will be more than happy to carry you here! If you drive via M25 then please exit at junction 4.

Although the talk starts at 2pm, you are very welcome to come early from 10am. And since Ven Wu Shin stay at this address from 6th - 10th July, if you want to meet him then please let us know.

We hope all of you can come as in my mind its already more of a party than a  Buddhist talk!

That’s great news!  I have missed Tian Hau’s excellently cooked food for a long time and I am sure Mianjoo would say the same!  Thank you!  Does it cover lunch if we come early to help or afternoon tea J?  Also can we contribute to the ingredients?

As Bro Tian Hau is cooking this Sunday you do not need to bring any food, as Bro Jian Tu explained yesterday. However if you wish to bring some drinks and dessert you are welcome to do so.

Secondly we have invited Ven Wu Shin to our home this evening so if you are able to come we will be extremely delighted to have your company too. Just reply to confirm your attendance. My address is 13, Gilliam Grove, Purley CR8 2NT.

Purley is on the main railway line from either Victoria or London Bridge, towards Gatwick Airport and further south. Purley is the next train stop (if you are on an express train), or the third train stop (slow service) from East Croydon so it is many miles BEFORE Gatwick Airport! It is in Zone 6.
